Case filed against ‘Drishyam 2’ producer Kumar Mangat, screwed over rights
The shooting of Ajay Devgn’s upcoming film ‘Drishyam 2’ has not even started yet, before that the film has got stuck in a legal panch. Viacom 18 Motion Picture, the company co-producing the film ‘Drishyam’ (Hindi), has filed a case against producer Mangat Kumar. The company says that ‘Drishyam’ was produced by Viacom 18, Panorama Studios, and Kumar Mangat, so how can they give rights to ‘Drishyam 2’ only to Panorama Studios.
The company says that the rights to the film are not only with Kumar Mangat. Talking to ETimes, a source said, “Viacom18 spoke to Kumar Mangat and said that this way the project cannot be separated from them. He also said that he cannot make ‘Vishayam 2’ with anyone else. Therefore, the company has filed a case against the producer. Soon the first hearing of the case will be held ‘.
Let us tell you that the 2015 Hindi remake ‘Drishyam’ was done by the late director Nishikant Kamat. It was produced by Kumar Mangat, Abhishek Pathak’s production company Panorama Studios International and Viacom18. But recently the producers of the film announced that the official rights for the Hindi remake of ‘Drishyam 2’ have been purchased by Panorama Studios. After this, Viacom 18 has taken this step.
Shreya Saran, Tabu, and Ishita Dutta appeared in the lead roles in the 2015 Hindi remake ‘Drishyam’ with actor Ajay Devgan. Currently, there is no news of anyone other than Ajay Devgan being cast in ‘Drishyam 2’. The Hindi film ‘Drishyam’ was directed by director Nishikant Kamat but he died in a hospital in Hyderabad on August 17 last year due to a serious illness.
