The new installment of the saga will premiere in December and stars Kaya Scodelario, Hannah John-Kamen and Robbie Amell
On December 30, the premiere of the new installment of the saga based on the video games Resident Evil: Welcome to Racoon city is scheduled. The new installment written and directed by Johannes Roberts, and will star Kaya Scodelario, Hannah John-Kamen and Robbie Amell.
The production company has unveiled the first images of the expected production in which we see one of the creatures, and the protagonists of the saga in full action.
The film takes us to what was once a burgeoning hometown of the pharmaceutical giant Umbrella Corporation, Raccoon City, which is now a dying town in the Midwest. The company’s exodus left the city a wasteland … with a great evil brewing beneath the surface. When that evil is unleashed, a group of survivors must unite to uncover the truth behind Umbrella and survive the night.
It is about the reboot of the franchise or rather a remake that will show the new versions on the big screen of Claire and Chris Redfield, Jill Valentine, Leon S. Kennedy, Albert Wesker and more characters that players and fans of the saga will recognize.
The movie is based on the first two Resident Evil games. In a new interview with IGN, Roberts explained the differences between his film Resident Evil, the previous ones starring Milla Jovovich, and how his cinematic approach here is based not only on Capcom games but also on old-school genre cinema. :
“I wanted to make a more terrifying movie than an action movie. I was very influenced by the remake of the second game and I really wanted to illustrate the same atmosphere that it had. The previous films were very bright while this film wanted it to be dark and dirty, completely filmed by night. It rains constantly and the city is shrouded in fog. … Films like The Exorcist, O The glow“, explained the director.
