Hrithik Roshan-Aishwarya Rai film Jodha-Akbar set in a fierce fire in ND Studio

A fire broke out in ND Studio located in Karjat near Mumbai burning a large part of the iconic set of the Jodha-Akbar film. Let me tell you, many popular films of Hindi cinema have been shot on the sets in ND Studio.

ND Studio is produced by Nitin Chandrakant Desai, a well-known art director of Hindi cinema. It is located near Khalapur in the Raigad district of Maharashtra. PTI was quoted by police officials as saying that there was a massive fire in the studio around 12 noon. However, no casualties have been reported in the fire. The fire was set on Jodha-Akbar’s set. Plywood, POP, and other items have been gutted in the fire. Several fire brigade vehicles were called from nearby to control the fire. The exact reason behind the fire could not be ascertained.

The film was released in 2008. In the Ashutosh Gowariker-directed film, Hrithik Roshan played Emperor Akbar and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan played Jodha Bai. Even after the shooting of the film was completed, the set was allowed to remain the same.
Foundation of ND Studio lying like this

Nitin Desai laid the foundation of his studio in Karjat in 2005. Spread over 50 acres, this spacious studio has space for complete set-up for historical and period films. During the shooting of Ashutosh Gowariker’s film Panipat, Nitin Desai, in a conversation with Jagran.com, told the story behind the studio production.

Nitin had told – famous Hollywood director Oliver Stone was making Alexander the Great film with a budget of 650 crores, which was to be shot internationally. He (Oliver Stone) started working by showing the locales of Agra, Udaipur, Panchgani. When he took Chitranagri (Filmcity) to show the floors, he was not in accordance with the International Standard. Despite being talented, the film moved to Morocco.

Nitin  further says, “I was very shocked as an artist that I had to do something in my country and then envisaged to build a state-of-the-art studio.” In this studio, he built Agra Fort, in which Jodha Akbar was shot. Be it the queen of Jhansi or Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Nitin Desai has worked for everyone.
