The first part of the final stretch has already arrived on Netflix. The Professor’s gang prepares for the last battle and all fronts are open.
Watch out, SPOILERS! Do not continue reading if you have not seen season 5 of ‘La Casa de Papel’
The first five episodes of season 5 of The Money Heist. The great coup that El Professor (Álvaro Morte) planned is coming to an end with all kinds of unforeseen events on the way. The assault on the Bank of Spain has turned out to be a much tougher task than their first robbery and, however much they have prepared, none of them had a tough agent to crack, the return of old enemies – ahem, Arturito – and the death of his companions.
The Band continues without Nairobi (Alba Flores) or Tokio (Úrsula Corberó) and with Helsinki (Darko Perić) and Stockholm (Esther Acebo) knocked out. The rest of his teammates, Denver (Jaime Lorente), Manila (Belén Cuesta) or Lisbon (Itziar Ituño) hold positions as best they can and, although everything looks much better than at the beginning, they still have many open fronts. To begin with, how are they going to escape without being arrested?
Season 5 of ‘La Casa de Papel’ has several cameos that you may not have recognized
The second part of the fifth installment of The Money Heist opens on December 3 and, until then, we can only make theories and speculations about the fate of the characters. We collected several ways in which the Álex Pina series could end, do you agree with them?
Lisbon and The Professor continue their career as thieves
We do not know very well how they will get out of this, but if The Professor and Lisbon get to leave the Bank of Spain free, it is not difficult to imagine them in a life to Bonnie and Clyde running from justice and planning one coup after another. You have to be honest, they are both hooked on adrenaline and have a privileged mind for robberies. If we put these two characteristics together, the couple will surely be happier living on the run than sitting in a house with a garden. In addition, they can now forget about tranquility, since after two assaults of this magnitude they are the most wanted people on planet Earth.
Stockholm and Denver, a relationship that breaks down
Stockholm and Denver met in a robbery and it is possible that someone else will separate them. Denver’s ever closer relationship with Manila, Stockholm’s doubts about the future of Cincinnati – her son with Arturito (Enrique Arce) – and the robber’s drug use … The writers are telling us that something it does not go well between them and that the next five episodes are going to be decisive for their relationship.
We must not forget that the shot with which Stockholm has wounded Arturito has marked a before and after for her and it is possible that she has realized that this life is not what she wants. At the same time, Denver’s mother was a victim of drugs, so the thief will not be able to bear that his partner follow the same path that ended his family.
What could we see? Perhaps Stockholm decides to go to jail, serve his sentence, and raise his son with a clear conscience. Denver, meanwhile, could end Manila, someone more akin to his personality. Or one of them could die. Who knows.
More deaths: Denver? Stockholm? Manila?
So far, the assault on the Bank of Spain has led to the death of two important figures: Nairobi and Tokyo. The previous coup also ended with several victims – DEP Moscow (Paco Tous) and Berlin (Pedro Alonso) -, so this, being even bigger, could not be less. It is very likely that we will see another character die in the remaining five chapters, but who could it be?
Again, we’re targeting the love trio of the season: Denver, Stockholm, and Manila. We would like this conflict to be resolved without deaths, but, to be honest, they have many ballots. Another candidate is The Professor. With Alicia Sierra (Najwa Nimri) in her hiding place and Tamayo on her heels, she has very difficult to get out of this free. Either he dies or he is imprisoned … Or he surprises us with the great final twist of fiction.
The Professor’s team goes free, but without the gold
At this point, one thing is clear: if they manage to get free, it will not be with the gold. The situation has become so complicated that they will have to choose between one thing or another and, if they are smart, they will choose to be free rather than steal their target. A user of Reddit proposes a very feasible theory: The Professor agrees to hand over the gold in exchange for the freedom of his team. This reserve is an important part of the country’s economy, so the government will have to negotiate to keep it safe. They will have to accept that they have to come to terms with the robbers to maintain the Welfare State.
‘La Casa de Papel’ (Netflix): What role does Rafael, the son of Berlin, have in season 5?
There may be a conviction along the way, a fine, but, above all, this brings us to a character who could be the key to a triumphant exit …
Rafael (Patrick Criado) comes into play
Season 5 of The Money Heist has featured Rafael (Patrick Criado), the son of Berlin. Although at first he did not want to participate in his father’s robberies, he agrees to collaborate in one and seems to enjoy it. It is rare to introduce such a character in the last season if it is not with a clear objective and we want to think that that objective is to serve as an ace up the sleeve for The Professor’s plan. If we continue with the theory that they will not be able to keep the gold, Rafael could help them not to leave empty-handed thanks to technology, perhaps stealing from the state coffers?
The second part of season 5 of The Money Heist premieres on Netflix on December 3.
