Earlier the show’s first look and teaser were released. Kunal Kohli had announced to make a film on the story of Ramayana, which is now being offered as a web series. While sharing the first look in 2018, Kunal Kohli wrote that Ramayug is my next film. Your love, blessings, and support are needed. While announcing the film, Kunal had said that Veteran litterateur Narendra Kohli has been associated with the project as a consultant, so that the facts are not forgotten and the project is not disputed.
On the small screen, Ramayana first brought Ramanand Sagar in the eighties, which still enjoys cult status. In this Ramayana, Ram was played by Arun Govil, while Sita had Deepika Chikhaliya in the role. At the same time, Sunil Lahiri played Laxman and Arvind Trivedi played the role of Ravana.
Dara Singh was in the role of Hanuman. This Ramayana is very popular among the audience even today. Last year, when it was broadcast again on Doordarshan in the Corona Virus Lockdown, it created new records of TRPs.
