The idea of vengeance needs to be thought through carefully. Revenge for an evil act has always been a favorite subject of Hindi films, though it needs to be made smart to win the hearts of the viewers.
It’s an entertaining thriller directed by Sujoy Ghosh with plot twists and turns that will keep you intrigued.
It offers an exhilarating way to kill time with a constant state of nervousness. This film is the remake of The Invisible Friend Does Not Matter Too Much, which was filmed in Spain in 2004.
The movie starred Amitabh Bachchan and Tapasi Pannu in their best performances ever. Director Ghosh has done such an outstanding job that one cannot get enough of it. A lot of the subjects that the story deals with are unusual to the movie industry at the moment.
Two principal characters are present in the film. The film is mostly based on Naina and Badal. They try to decode each other’s thoughts in order to find out how Arjun was murdered. Dialogue plays an important part in this film.
This is the only way to understand the film and what it is about. In simple terms, revenge is two people talking to each other for the same purpose – to get back at the person who wronged them.
In both characters, truth is buried and the mythology is referred to in a way that makes the film increasingly interesting.
There are many lines from the Mahabharata that Ghosh makes use of, and that means that the film becomes increasingly involved.
A few of the dialogues recur, but even so, the emotions of the characters are well captured and as a result, the situation becomes quite clear at the end of the film. In spite of the flashbacks, the film is a bit tiresome due to its frequent repetitions.
Amitabh Bachchan and Tapasi display good chemistry in this film. Pink, for his part, saw a relationship between the two characters between the accused and the defense attorney, but both characters appear in new avatars in this film.
There are many layers to Tapasi’s character, and the audience will gradually be able to make sense of them as the film progresses. A very nicely done performance by the actress, who was awarded the Tony Award for Best Supporting Actress in 1984.
The role Bachchan plays in this film is less complex than Tapasi’s but he has done it quite well and showed his distinctive acting style.
In the film, both characters contribute quite a bit in maintaining the level of tension and infuriating in the same way.
Sujoy Ghosh has made action-thriller movies like Kahani and Kahani Two. There are more layers to the plot compared to the story, but they are very good at making such movies.
Avik Mukhopadhyay’s cinematography is commendable. In addition to the film’s four moons, Monisha Baldwana’s editing and Clinton Carriage’s music were also essential.
The movie is a little predictable, although there are plot twists and turns from time to time, thereby making it a bit less thrilling. There will be a lot of fans of thriller movies who will enjoy watching this film. Our rating for the film is 3.5 stars.
