The 24th edition of the guitar lutherie fair, in Toulouse for six years, which will be held this Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 September, will open its doors in the La Cité space located on avenue Louis Bréguet.

This is a first at La Cité while the previous editions took place in rooms of the Hôtel de Région. However, the regional council remains at the helm of this huge room, a sort of “innovation incubator intended for all companies” located at 55 avenue Louis Breguet over 3,600 m2.

Enough to take off again for the Montpellier Internationales de la Guitare festival which offers, this year from September 11 to October 9, more than forty concerts throughout the Occitanie region. This will be the 26th edition with many guitar stars: Jean-Félix Lalanne, Thomas Dutronc, Manu Lanvin, among others.

Centenary of Brassens and Manitas de Plata

The festival is counting this year on a sure value: the centenary of the birth of Georges Brassens and that of guitarist Manitas de Plata. The Sète poet is also represented on the poster, slaying the Covid monster on his white horse, with a guitar as his only weapon …

Another local poet, Dick Annegarn, will be the godfather of the violin making show which will honor around forty exhibitors. For the pleasure of lovers of beautiful six strings, not always accessible for all budgets, but certainly beautiful work that you can try at will.

“The world of the guitar is deeply rooted in the DNA of Occitania: its manufacture, its traditions, its history, and above all its most illustrious representatives such as the immense Georges Brassens and the little silver hands of Manitas de Plata, ”says Talaat El Singaby, director and founder of Internationales.

During this weekend, the lutherie fair offers creative workshops (make your pick), guitar engraving demonstrations, concerts, masterclasses and showcase, the inauguration will take place on Saturday September 11 at 2:30 p.m. in the presence by Dick Annegarn.

Finally, many luthiers from the region, France and Europe will be present. Each year, a grant of 4000 euros is offered to a luthier craftsman. The last being the Toulousain John Mélis, installed since 2019 within the Guitar Wonderland in Portet-sur-Garonne.
