How to reach Bulgaria's hot springs

Sofia is the gateway; Velingrad, Hisarya and Sandanski are 1.5–3 hours by bus or car. The country is compact — a week covers the classic circuit easily.

Where Bulgaria's springs cluster

  • Velingrad — The spa capital: dozens of mineral springs, public baths and hotel pools.
  • Sandanski — The warmest town in Bulgaria, in the Pirin foothills near Greece.
