Whether you're traveling with family, seeking a quiet retreat, or looking for mineral-rich waters, Czechia has a spring for you.
Czechia's West Bohemian spa triangle — Karlovy Vary, Mariánské Lázně, Františkovy Lázně — is the most elegant thermal circuit in Central Europe: colonnades, drinking cures and grand hotels in forested valleys. 18 listings of old-world spa culture.
How to reach Czechia's hot springs
Prague is the gateway; Karlovy Vary is 2 hours by bus, the other triangle towns a little further. The circuit is compact enough to base in one town and day-trip the others.
Where Czechia's springs cluster
- Karlovy Vary — The star: 13 main springs, the Mill Colonnade, Becherovka country.
- Mariánské Lázně & Františkovy Lázně — Quieter, greener siblings of the triangle with superb parks.
- Teplice — Bohemia's oldest spa town, in the north.
Best time to visit
May–June and September for promenading weather. Winter is atmospheric and uncrowded; the colonnades steam beautifully in the cold.
Good to know
The drinking cure is the local ritual — buy the traditional porcelain cup with a spout and sip your prescribed spring. Film festival season (July) fills Karlovy Vary; book ahead.
