How to reach Guatemala's hot springs
Guatemala City, then Quetzaltenango (Xela) for Fuentes Georginas — 30 minutes by shuttle from Xela. Atitlán is 3 hours from the capital.
Where Guatemala's springs cluster
- Zunil (Fuentes Georginas) — Cloud-forest pools in a volcanic valley — the must-do.
- Lake Atitlán — Lakeside thermal spots around San Pedro and Santiago.
Best time to visit
November–April is the dry season with clear volcano views. Mornings are crisp in the highlands — perfect for hot water.
Good to know
Xela is the base for Fuentes Georginas and worth a few days itself. The road to the springs is steep and winding — shuttles are the easy option. Combine with Atitlán for the classic highland circuit.
